This top wedge hit shield design provides more protection for powerful in-and-up contact drills. This may involve either front-on tackling drills or the body position of the ball carrier as they enter tackle contact.
The wedge also provides a thicker foam area for greater protection and contact absorption. The angle gives the holder more security against the runner's shoulder slipping up and hitting the chin or head.
This hit shield is also great for breakdown training over the ball. The thick wedge is a good contact point for the first cleaner.
